This project is about the naked female body in current Western society.
My figure changed a lot during my life. Like everyone’s does. You go through insecurities, even hate for yourself, hate for your own body. At some point, when I was 15 years old and had the figure that is accepted by society. And the most important thing in my life: hating myself.
But somehow, I learned to accept myself the way I am. Even to love my anatomy. And yet, my own body still does not meet the expectations of our time.
In this project, I denounce the absurdity of our current beauty standards.
Self-mockery not only creates recognisability for others, but also created acceptance and even appreciation for my own body. But not only this provided my insight. In the time that Peter Paul Rubens lived, the Baroque, my body would have been the example of the perfect female form. Among other things, especially his paintings helped me a lot in accepting my own body.
I hope my work can do the same for others.
The Woman With The Magnificent Fat Roll started as my graduation project in 2018. It turned out to be the project of my life.
